At Lovelace Health System, the health and safety of our patients and workforce is our top priority. In order to protect our patients and staff, Lovelace Health System is revising our visitor policy while the threat of COVID-19 remains. We understand the importance of patients having access to their loved ones while receiving care at our hospitals and clinics, but we must also allow for safeguards to ensure the safety of our patients and employees.
To protect our patients and workforce, we are not allowing visitors on our hospital campuses at this time. A separate policy is attached for our outpatient Lovelace Medical Group clinic locations.
Exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis for the following:
• Children admitted to the hospital
• Maternity units
• Patients receiving end-of-life/palliative care
• Patient has a disability requiring assistance
For these very limited exceptions, one visitor per patient will be allowed. Please note, visitors who meet one of the guidelines above may be screened and escorted to the appropriate patient care area.
We know that this will impact the connection between patients in our facilities and their loved ones. We encourage loved ones to connect with patients through options such as phone calls, FaceTime, Skype, WhatsApp and other online platforms.
We continue to monitor the risk of COVID-19 closely and will make adjustments to visitor restrictions, as necessary. We appreciate the community’s partnership in helping us as we prevent the spread of COVID-19.
